Pump Station 19, which pumps nearly half of the City of Laurinburg’s wastewater to the WWTP, was noted to have an extremely high accumulation of debris within its wet well. The pump station had a manual bar screen located in a channel leading into the pump station, but the screen did not do a sufficient job of removing debris and became completely submerged during high flow conditions. To eliminate further accumulation, Willis Engineers recommended the installation of a mechanical bar screen. The screen was sized in such a way that it could continue operation during both low and high flow conditions, and have a collection system that would deposit the collected debris in a dumpster.
